Addressing open defecation and establishing sustainable sanitation infrastructure are critical for preventing disease, protecting environmental resources, and improving quality of life. Our comprehensive approach ensures villages achieve ODF status while building local capacity for long-term maintenance and community-led sanitation practices.
Swachha Bharat Mission (ODF Verification program)
As a KRC support agency, the organization was selected to assess sanitation and ODF status across 142 villages in Kolhapur and Gadchiroli districts of Maharashtra. This initiative supported the Swachh Bharat Mission’s objective of achieving complete open defecation free status in rural areas. The verification process examined multiple parameters including drainage infrastructure, solid and liquid waste management systems, community awareness levels on sanitation practices, the condition of Individual Household Latrines (IHHLs) and public toilets, and overall village hygiene standards. A comprehensive assessment report with actionable recommendations was submitted to the client agency for further implementation.
KRC – ODEP (Key Resource Center – Open Defecation Eradication Plan)
Under the KRC mandate, comprehensive village-level assessments were undertaken to evaluate existing sanitation infrastructure and identify gaps in cleanliness facilities across Gram Panchayats. Based on these ground assessments, detailed development estimates were formulated covering essential interventions such as drainage networks, solid and liquid waste management systems, garbage disposal facilities, internal and approach roads, street lighting, school sanitation blocks, and drinking water infrastructure. Each village received a customized development plan addressing its specific sanitation and cleanliness requirements, which was then forwarded to the client agency for execution.
